We went for a ride as we do each year, looking for colorful fall foliage. Colors seemed muted this year, and we weren’t inspired to shoot until we arrived at Lock 12 on the Delaware Canal. I love all kinds of gears and mechanical things, the older the better. This is the shot I came away with.

Wow… two posts on the same day. I came across a post by another photographer on this subject. I know today’s brides are seriously concerned about their budget, and that there is a lot of well-intentioned advice out there on how to save money on photography. Here’s a post that puts a little perspective on the matter: Why you should never skimp on wedding photography

Check out this video from Professional Photographers of America (PPA). It’s not that Uncle Bob can’t take “good” pictures with that fancy, new digital camera. Any current DSLR will automatically produce a properly-exposed image when the shutter is released. But, there is a lot more to consider, as this video shows.

The theme, Springtime in Paris, was beautifully executed. I’ve attended the Flower Show for years, and while there’s always something wonderful to see, this year’s show was tops. I went on opening day, enduring the crowd, and tried to get some photographs while being jostled and shoved around. I did see dozens of folks with over-the-top camera rigs, as well as countless people shooting with iPhones… even a kid taking pictures with his DS3. I didn’t know you could take pictures with such a thing… go know. Anyway, here’s a slideshow of my impressions, all taken with a 50mm prime lens (no zoom… I wanted to travel light).
