This is the Black River & Western’s No. 1554, formerly of the New Jersey Central RR, in 1976. It’s red!

This is the Black River & Western’s No. 60 in 1975. Shortly after I shot this photo, it was taken out of service for a complete rebuilding. I understand it has been fully restored, and will soon be running.

They certainly picked a beautiful day for their engagement session! Kacie loves New Hope, Pennsylvania, which on the first beautiful day of spring was beyond crowded. We managed to avoid the tsunami of people by heading down to the towpath, and by the kindness of management at the Tuscany restaurant which let us use their cute little garden spot for a few shots. It looks like a lovely place for a reception. As the density of the crowds increased, we decided to seek refuge at the Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve. We saw only a few wildflowers but the place is otherwise a scenic delight.

Here are some impressions from the Flower Show at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. I picked a bad day for it, considering it must have been the most crowded place on the planet at the time. It was a struggle to move around, once inside. I was equipped with my little point ‘n’ shoot camera, being there mainly to enjoy the show, not necessarily make pictures. Looking around at the massive photo gear hanging from the necks of people in the crowd I wonder if I missed a memo or something. But, I did snap a few and here they are.

So much new software heading this way… my head is spinning! You might not notice a difference right now, but the blog you’re looking at is running on the brand-new ProPhoto3 program within WordPress. It has many new capabilities, which I’ll be looking over soon. Is it time to change the look of Photokin?

And just this week, my gallery host (Zenfolio) announced a boatload of new features. I’ve been so happy with Zenfolio as a charter member, I never knew I wanted all these new features… but now that they’re here, I’m glad to have them!

I’ll be tinkering with the blog first. If you notice any <del datetime="2010-01-16T00:14:23+00:00">mistakes</del> anomalies, please do let me know!

So you’re on a social network, or perhaps an online dating service like eHarmony, you really hope the person behind the avatar looks like his or her photograph. Well here’s a new concept being provided through the Professional Photographers of America: have your photograph made and certified by a photographer in the new Accuphoto program. The Accuphoto program will launch in May, 2010. Its logo looks like this, and you’ll see advertisements:

Early details on how it will work:
The client will have a portrait mini-session. At the Mini-Session, the Photographer will review a few basic details about the customer (name, height, age & city of residence). The photographer will then complete a mini photo session with the client, and upload 8-10 proofs to the customer specific area of the Accuphoto Website for review. The client will select his/her 2 favorite images. The images will be watermarked with the Accuphoto logo and a Unique Verification Number, and emailed to the client for him/her to upload to their profile page.

We think this is a wonderful idea, and have signed up to participate in the Accuphoto program. Meantime, if you need a great, new photo for Facebook or MySpace, you don’t need to wait until May. Call us now to book an inexpensive portrait mini-session.
